Tour Overview
After breakfast, enjoy Fes day trip, we leave Fes at around 8:00 AM for a full-day excursion to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis and the historic imperial city of Meknes. We begin with Volubilis, where we explore the impressive Roman ruins and beautifully preserved mosaics. We then continue to Meknes to discover its historic Medina, Bab Mansour, El Hedim Square, and Heri es-Souani, before returning to Fes in the afternoon.
This day trip is a perfect combination of Roman history, Moroccan culture, and imperial heritage.
Itinerary
Fes – Volubilis
After breakfast, our driver will pick you up from your hotel or riad in Fes at around 8:00 AM, and we will begin our journey towards Volubilis.
Upon arrival, we will explore the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, one of the best-preserved archaeological sites in North Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Take a walk through the impressive ruins and admire the beautiful Roman mosaics, ancient columns, temples, arches, and remains of Roman villas. Highlights include the House of Orpheus, the Capitoline Temple, and the Arch of Caracalla.
As we explore the site, you can learn more about the history of Roman civilization in North Africa and the fascinating blend of Roman and local cultures that developed here.
Volubilis – Meknes
After visiting Volubilis, we continue our journey to Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities.
Upon arrival, we explore the historic Medina and discover the magnificent Bab Mansour, one of Morocco’s most famous monumental gates. We continue to El Hedim Square, the lively heart of the old city, and explore the surrounding historic streets.
We will also visit Heri es-Souani, the impressive royal granaries and stables built during the reign of Sultan Moulay Ismail.
Depending on the timing of the visit, you will also have some free time to enjoy lunch and explore the Medina at your own pace.
Meknes – Fes
In the afternoon, we leave Meknes and drive back to Fes. Upon arrival, our driver will drop you off at your hotel or riad.
